Undefined reference errors

Hello, I am trying to link libzdb on Ubuntu with Code Blocks v13. I am facing following errors: obj/Release/SERVER/DBConnection/zdb_connection/cstzdbresultset.o: In function `CSTZDBResultSet::is_null(unsigned int) const': /home/bsr/work/Development/source_cs_server/SOURCE/SERVER/DBConnection/zdb_connection/cstzdbresultset.cpp:15: undefined reference to `ResultSet_isnull(ResultSet_S*, int)' /home/bsr/work/Development/source_cs_server/SOURCE/SERVER/DBConnection/zdb_connection/cstzdbresultset.cpp:18: undefined reference to `Exception_throw(Exception_T const*, char const*, char const*, int, char const*, ...)' Same problem is seen with all the symbols in the ResultSet.c. I have followed the instructions to build the library and is installed in /usr/local/lib. However, I am not seeing the same with Connection class and some of the exception macros. Please suggest me how to fix this problem. CLOB-columns in Oracle DBs always return 'null'.
by Mats Christensen 04 May '15

Hi, It seems like libzdb (probaly) won't handle CLOBs in Oracle DBs very well. When selecting a CLOB directly nothing but the value 'null' is returned, when typecasting the CLOB to ex. VARCHAR2 it works perfectly. The same problem occurs when inserting data to a CLOB. Tests for Oracle also fails because of this. I've tried libzdb 2.8, 2.12 and 3.0, the same problem occurs in all three. This happens with Oracle Instant Client 11,1 11,2 and 12,1. Has anyone else encountered this? Is it a bug in libzdb or Instant Client? Thank you very much! Regards, Mats Christensen

I was trying to figure out differences between zdb and opendbx. The most relevant one is suspecting that opendbx is not being actively maintained. Opendbx supports Sybase. Libzdb looks very anonymous. Even this list's archives are not accessible. (http://www.tildeslash.com/pipermail/libzdb-general/) So I thought I'd just say hallo :-) Ale

Unisgned integers
by Laxman Prabhu 03 Apr '14

Does LibZdb support unsigned int in the prepare statements ? I went through the Prepare statements source code and could only find long, int, long long, string. Is there any way to do a unsigned int operation ? Regards Laxman

Thanks for the code, I'm checking this case. Looks like blob was not read correctly. Let you know as soon as I get new results. Good luck, Volodymyr! So with one datapoint, the above seems to work. If you want us to investigate, we are also more inclined to do so if you can provide a small test program demonstrating the problem. Libzdb 3.0 beta
by Jan-Henrik Haukeland 05 Jan '14

05 Jan '14

Happy new year! We been working on a new libzdb 3.0 release which include some new useful features. Most notable support for Date, Time and timestamp. This release includes a lot of changes so we wanted to release this as a beta version/release candidate first. If you can, please help us test. If you find a problem, please use the issue tracker at https://github.com/tildeslash/libzdb/issues Download: http://www.tildeslash.com/libzdb/dist/libzdb-3.0b.tar.gz MD5 checksum: 6c0334d8132723d8a58414d4b208690e Developer version: https://github.com/tildeslash/libzdb/releases Changes in this release: ------------------------ * New: Methods for retrieving Date, Time, DateTime and TimeStamp column values from a ResultSet. PreparedStatement_setTimestamp for setting Unix timestamp. * New: ResultSet_isnull, can be used to explicit test if a column value in a Result Set is SQL null. A Result Set already returns the NULL pointer for string and blob types and 0 for primitive data types, but to differ between SQL null and the value NULL or 0, this method can be used. * New: PreparedStatement_getParameterCount, Returns the number of parameters in a prepared statement * New: It is now a checked runtime error for the url parameter given in ConnectionPool_new() to be NULL. * New: No longer require flex installed as the generated file is part of the dist. * Fixes: Oracle: Fixed a memory corruption in OracleResultSet https://github.com/tildeslash/libzdb/issues/4 Best regards -- Jan-Henrik Haukeland

Hi, I have a request for a bit particular: Can I have libzdb.dylib already compiled for use in a xcode project (iphone or iPad prj) to connect to an Oracle DB and then execute a Select command. Sorry for the strange request but I have no familiarity with compilers. Thanks for everything. (If needed I can pay the bother) Or can you tell me where and how I can buy it. Best Regards.

MSSQL and Sybase with libzdb
by Abhay Gupta 27 Nov '13

Hi, I was wondering as to why the support for MSSQL and Sybase is not added via a freetds library ? This will make libzdb complete pool library with mostly used databases being supported . Thanks, Abhay
