by Mike McGonagle 05 Apr '09

05 Apr '09

Hello, I was going through the 2.5 version hoping to install this on my Mac, and test some stuff out. But it appears from the annoucement email, that it only supports Intel Mac, is this true? or is there a ./configure option that would allow PPC compilation? Thanks, Mike

Packaging for Fedora
by Bernard Johnson 02 Mar '09

02 Mar '09

Hello, I was trying to package libzdb for inclusion in Fedora. One concern that came up was the sonames generated with the version of libzdb as part of the soname. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=474044#c4 Have you considered generating your sonames to reflect the ABI version of the package rather than tying it to the package version?

unix sockets
by Paul J Stevens 02 Mar '09

Jan-Henrik, Is there a mechanism for connecting to postgresql through a unix socket? I see there is a 'unix-socket' query option for mysql, but what about pgsql? thanks, -- ________________________________________________________________ Paul Stevens paul at nfg.nl NET FACILITIES GROUP GPG/PGP: 1024D/11F8CD31 The Netherlands________________________________http://www.nfg.nl

[Announce] libzdb 2.4
by Jan-Henrik Haukeland 16 Feb '09

16 Feb '09

Version 2.4 of Zild Database Library is available: Download: http://www.tildeslash.com/libzdb/dist/libzdb-2.4.tar.gz MD5 checksum: b4c4ba0090881d4714f7f3e56d6eadbd libzdb-2.4.tar.gz Change log: http://www.tildeslash.com/libzdb/dist/CHANGES.txt This is a minor feature and bug fix release which has been tested on the following platforms: Darwin 9.6.0 [x86] Linux FC/U [x86/x64] FreeBSD [x86] Changes in this release: * The configure options --with_mysql=<path> and --with_postgresql=<path> has a new meaning. If <path> is given it is assumed to be the full path to respectively mysql_config and to pg_config. Example: ./configure --with_mysql=/usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql_config ./configure --with_postgresql=/usr/local/pgsql/bin/pg_config * From version 2.4, libzdb places its header files into a zdb sub-directory as in, <prefix>/include/zdb. Clients must now use the include-dir compiler flag, -I<prefix>/include/zdb. * Internal optimizing changes and improvements * Changed prototypes of type 'extern void foo()' to 'extern void foo(void)' so the library compiles without warning if -Wstrict-prototype is used with gcc. Thanks to Paul Stevens Bug fixes: * Fixed off-by-one bug in Vector_remove * PostgreSQL: Fixed PostgresqlResultSet_getColumnSize to report correct value. * PostgreSQL: Improved error reporting and fixed potential allocation bugs in prepared statements. * PostgreSQL: Calling PreparedStatement_setString with a NULL value now works

[Announce] libzdb 2.3
by Jan-Henrik Haukeland 05 Dec '08

05 Dec '08

Version 2.3 of Zild Database Library is available: Download: http://www.tildeslash.com/libzdb/dist/libzdb-2.3.tar.gz MD5 checksum: 62e16369e268e9280978d36343207e60 libzdb-2.3.tar.gz Change log: http://www.tildeslash.com/libzdb/dist/CHANGES.txt This is a minor feature release which has been tested on the following platforms: Darwin 9.5.0 [ppc/x86] Linux FC/U [x86/x64] FreeBSD [x86] Note, a few function signatures in public interfaces has been changed. Functions that can throw an exception on error, now just returns void. This is done to be consistent wrt error handling via exceptions. This means that existing client code may require modest refactoring if return values are checked. In addition, internal improvements has been done here and there. Changes in this release: Version 2.3 ----------- * Cleaned up API and changed function return type to void for those functions that can throw exception on error. * Support variable arguments in Connection_prepareStatement() to make it easy to build prepared statements in-place

Hi, do you plan to implement support for other databases? An interface to sqlrelay and/or DB2 would be fine. Kind regards, Uwe

[Announce] libzdb 2.2.3

Version 2.2.3 of Zild Database Library is available: Download: http://www.tildeslash.com/libzdb/dist/libzdb-2.2.3.tar.gz MD5 checksum: a2a79dfbafa10a20d2cf0edfb5d5795e libzdb-2.2.3.tar.gz Change log: http://www.tildeslash.com/libzdb/dist/CHANGES.txt This is a bug fix release which has been tested on the following platforms: Darwin 9.4.0 [ppc/x86] Linux FC/U [x86/x64] FreeBSD [x86] Note, this release should fix problems with SQLite database locks. As you probably know, SQLite locks the database file on certain operations. This is a problem when two or more connections tries to update the SQLite database at the same time, since only one connection will succeed. There are ways around this problem and the strategy we use in libzdb is to retry the statement whenever a database lock is encountered. Unfortunately the retry code had a bug which prevented it to run more than one time. This is now fixed and libzdb will handle concurrent usage of SQLite much better. Changes in this release: Version 2.2.3 ------------- Bug fixes: * Make sure connection properties, max rows and query timeout are reset on Connection_close(), if changed. * Ensure that timeout is set for new Connections and fixed a bug in the SQLite retry macro so the SQLite driver now will retry executing on database lock
