Hi,
I have installed libzdb without problems before, but now I'm trying to do the same and I always get the same error message. I tried to install mysql-server both from apt-get and using the generic binaries. I have installed the mysql-client too, using "apt-get install mysql-client".
The command I use to try to configure your library is this:

I though the problem was because the line "checking for mysql_init in -lmysqlclient... no", but I have checked several times the client library, and all seems to be ok (of course, It's not). I'll appreciate any clue you can offer.

Check the end of config.log
This may give you more information on why the mysqlclient check is failing - that does appear to be the cause of your issue.

You guided me to the solution! There were several libs missing. I fixed that with:
apt-get install libcurl4-openssl-dev

This is becoming a FAQ
Libzdb makes some silent assumptions while checking for mysql.
[-lz -lssl -lcrypto -lm]
at the very least libz and libssl are not provided my any of the 'normal' mysql packages or their dependencies.
Jan-Henrik, maybe this could be fixed?
Good point. I'll promote test for these libs into separate configure tests so eventual error reporting will be clearer.
